Mirror Acrylic - Fern
Mirror Acrylic - Fern
Material Thickness:
3mm (thickness may vary by up to 1mm between batches).
Single-Sided Mirror Effect:
This material has a glossy mirrored finish on the front and a matte grey backing on the reverse side. However, it comes with specific disadvantages (please see below).
Engraved Mirror Items:
Engraving on this mirror material produces a semi-transparent frosted effect. The base layer of the colored mirror is tinted acrylic, so the etched areas will appear as a lighter tone of the color you selected. Any glued attachments will be visible through the engraved areas.
Usage:
Best suited for small, medium, and large shapes that are at least 15mm in size. We do not offer this mirror material in mini shapes. Due to the laser injecting a lot of heat when cutting, mini shapes are not suitable.
Protective Paper:
- Applied to both the front and back of solid shapes. This paper will need to be peeled off upon receipt.
- For etched shapes, the paper film is applied only to the front. Peel it off to reveal your chosen mirror color.
Disadvantages:
While this acrylic is stunning, it was originally designed for industrial signage, not jewelry, so extra care is required when handling and using it.
- Mirror acrylic is prone to showing marks and scratches easily. Scratches on the back will show through on the front.
- I do not recommend gluing attachments onto mirror acrylic. It is best used for feature hanging charms only. If you do wish to glue, ensure you use a non-solvent-based adhesive, such as e-6000, but even this may show through to the front surface. There is also a risk of the attachment peeling off the grey mirror backing.
- HASULITH glue is unsuitable for attaching items to mirror acrylic; please use e-6000 instead.
- If the protective paper film is left on the grey reverse backing for too long, it can cause lifting at the laser-cut edges. Remove this side as soon as possible to avoid this issue. You can leave the paper on the mirror side until you're ready for final use.
Cleaning Tips:
For general cleaning of acrylic mirror, simply wash with clean, cold water and a little mild detergent. Use a clean microfiber cloth to gently dry. Do not use any solvents such as methylated spirits, turpentine, white spirit, or window cleaning products, as these will cause irreversible surface damage.
